Catch-up With Pause With Paws C.I.C

Wow. What a month March has been so far!

We held our international women's day cuppa and a cuddle event on March 6th and it went so well. We cannot wait for the afternoon tea pawty on Sunday!

Our weekly visits at Sandiacre Court Care Centre have been making a real difference to residents wellbeing. Last week on the dementia nursing floor, we saw residents who didn't usually interact gently stroking the dogs and even communicating with us. It is so beautiful to see the bonds being formed every week.

On Thursday we visited the first ever care home we supported, Long Eaton View, and the second visit was just as successful as the first one. Some residents remembered us and the dogs from previous sessions which was very heart-warming. We reminisced with residents about past pets as they enjoyed dog cuddles.

Friday we had our first visit at a care home that we support bi-weekly and wow, the response was incredible. First sessions are for gentle introductions and getting to know each other, dogs included. We keep dogs on leads until everyone is comfortable with their presence to make sure the environment is calm. The manager was thrilled to see one resident, who doesn't usually speak, chatting away to the team and the dogs, getting involved and feeding the dogs treats. We cannot wait to return!

Monday we had our second visit to The Firs and something truly magical happened. As we arrived we were told that one of the gentleman was very distressed and had been quite aggressive. By the end of the session he was a different person. He spent time telling us about Labradors he owned in the past whilst stroking Hank who sat gently on his knee. We even created a dog word search for residents to complete if they didn't want to interact with the dogs. It's always a wonderful visit at The Firs and we cannot wait to return!

And last but not least, we are so grateful to anyone who believes in what we do. Without you we wouldn't exist. Pause With Paws C.I.C Team
